Tuesday we drove from Boston to Maine. To break up the trip we stopped in Freeport and visited the original LL Bean store. Most of downtown Freeport is factory or outlet stores. LL Bean was full of great stuff but we didn’t get anything. Now that we don’t buy many things, shopping isn’t as much fun. We do find ourselves saying “if we still had the house, we’d get that in a heartbeat!” - but we don’t have the house so there isn’t much point in it. The LL Bean store has several stuffed animals, sort of like a mini-Bass Pro. The best one is called “The Final Charge” and it’s two big moose fighting. In 2006 someone found the remains of 2 moose who had died with their antlers locked together. Sad way to go, but after some clever taxidermy, the results are impressive.

Today the sun was shining when we drove the car over to see Bar Harbor. It's a pretty town, full of interesting stores. The town gets visited by cruise ships, so they cater to tourists. We finally bought something - we found some good binoculars that we hope to use in Nova Scotia. when we drove along the coastline, which is just beautiful!

When we got to the top of Cadillac Mountain (don't know why it's called that), we could see for miles in every direction.

We went back to Bar Harbor for some great blueberry and raspberry ice cream at CJs Big Dipper. Earlier we went to the Fantail Pub for a lobster roll. It was OK, but Randy said there were better ways to make it. So on the way home we bought 2 live lobsters at the Lobster Pound, and Randy make lobster rolls for dinner. He was right - that was much better! Well, better for us, but not for this guy. . .
