A short, lousy trip

We left Vista this morning without any trouble but once we were on the road, Missy's car sickness kicked in. She got sick once, and shortly after I cleaned that up, she did it again. Then she had trouble with her rear - apparently she was trying to pass a hairball. It got stuck, so I had to grab paper towels and help. Ewww!

Once we got onto highway 15 the road was smoother so she wasn't as sick. But there was a worse problem. Entrance ramps onto 15 are sometimes also exit ramps to the next exit. On one of these a lady stayed in the ramp lane with no turn signals, no head turning, nothing to indicate she might want to change lanes. Randy was watching her anyway and slowed down as much as he felt he could without impeding traffic and risking a wreck behind us, and that was what saved her life. She suddenly whipped over into our lane just a few feet in front of the RV and slowed down. Randy braked forcefully, causing all sorts of crashing noises inside our RV, but he avoided running over her. Thank God nobody plowed into our back end. The soda Randy had in a cup holder fell out and spilled a full bottle of soda all over the floor, mostly under his feet. I scooped up the rugs and ran them to the shower area, then used half a roll of paper towels to blot up the soda.

When we finally got to Jack's house, we discovered that the side streets are being worked on and no street parking is allowed. Of course we don't park the RV on the street, but we usually park the Jeep on the street to avoid taking up all their driveway. We'll see what can be worked out on that.

As we hooked up, we smelled propane. We had a problem with the hookup we use for small external propane tanks, but we thought we had it fixed. And maybe we did, because this is a problem with the big internal tank.

But for now we are parked safe and sound in Jack's driveway, where we can consider what to do about the propane and look forward to the family reunion this weekend.

Oh, and later the radiator on the car began to leak...
