Wiener Roast at the AGSEM

Friday morning we headed back to Vista. There are really only two big roads out of Pahrump - one goes to Las Vegas and one goes to Baker. The trip to Baker is shorter, so we picked that one. We left Pahrump at 6 am again to beat the traffic, and this time it worked! We drove through the desert in the cool of the morning, when the rising sun cast deeper shadows on the mountains.

To me, "Death Valley Health Center" sounds like an oxymoron.
We passed through the congested area around Riverside between 10 and 11 am so we had smooth sailing all the way. We were home before noon, but so tired! But we didn't have much to do today, just a few odds and ends to get ready for the wiener roast we had scheduled for tonight. We supplied hot dogs, buns and condiments, plus the makings for s'mores. Our guests brought potato salad, pasta salad, beans, chips and dips, and everyone brought their own drinks.  Right before dinner Dan stopped by in his awesome 1926 Buick Sedan to pick up Ken and Randy, and make a beer run to Prohibition.
Dan and Randy have big growler jugs they fill up there. This time they stayed for a beer on tap, then Ken talked them into french fries and more beer (I don't think Ken had to work too hard at it). But they got back in plenty of time for Randy to start the fire. We invited all the live-ons, which include Ashley, Dan and their children, workampers Mark and Patty, work camper Rick, plus Ken and Patty, who volunteer at the Museum a lot. The last time we had this group over for dinner, we discovered that Lee loves the fire pit. This time he got to roast hot dogs and make s'mores too. He got into so much he started making s'mores for everyone!
